Anglican city Bishop Joel Waweru has being charged with sexual assaulting a woman by trying to touch her breasts and attempting to kiss her without consent.
He was charged before Kibera senior principal magistrate Derrick where he denied the two criminal counts related to sexual assault.

He committed the offence on two different dates and in times in lang'ata sub county in Nairobi county.
He made the sexual assault to J.N.M knowing that such advances were not welcome to J.N.M. He then repeated the second count trying touch her breasts indecently in July. He had since assaulted the woman from 2018.
The woman was then demoted from a parish vicar to archdeaconess to a vicar and later transferred from the church she was serving and salary was deducted.
Yesterday the bishop pleaded not guilty to the accusations and asked for lenient board terms. He was released by 50,000 cash bail and the matter heard after a fortnight.
