Why Some Kenyan Christians Are Celebrating Christmas Today January 7th Instead Of December 25

Most of you especially those who closely follow theology classes, those who did CRE in Highschool and those who are in the Catholic church, you are aware that there are two different types of calendars. Apparently, they all are recognized and followed but the most common one is the normal calendar that is used in every institution.

Apparently, for Orthodox christians, they follow the Julian calendar which normally has extra days in it. Basically, the Julian calendar was established by Julian Caesar and he claimed that according to his calendar, there will be extra days which have been documented according to his mathematics.

Now for this festive season, the Christians who follow this version have their Christmas marked on 7th January and this is the day that they all come together to commemorate the important day. Most of them spend their day in church worshipping before joining family members at home. We wish the Orthodox christians a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Source, Kenyans.CO.KE.
