Sarah Hussein Obama popularly known to people as "Mama Sarah" is the step_ grandmother of the Former US President Barack Obama. Mama Sarah was living in her ancestral home in Nyangoma village in kogelo which is near the edge of leke Victoria. Although she was not a blood relation, Barack Obama called her " Granny Sarah" Mama Sarah Obama spoke fluent Luo and few words of English and therefore communicated withe Barack Obama through an interpreter. She was a strong believer in Islamic faith and defended Barack Obama during the US presidential campaigns. She protested allegations meant to portray Barack Obama as a foreigner and a Muslim in US. She said that though Obama's perternal grandfather was a strong believer in Islamic, in the modern world children have religion different from that of their parents.
