Pope Francis has admitted that Catholic Church priests and nuns also watch pornography.
Speaking during a session with seminarians in Rome on Monday, the pope warned the members of the clergy to the dangers of porn saying that so many people have found themselves now watching adult films.
"Each of you thinks if you’ve had the experience or had the temptation of digital pornography. It’s a vice that so many people have, so many laymen, so many laywomen, and even priests and nuns
"And I'm not just talking about criminal pornography like that of child abuse, where you see cases of abuse in vivo: this is already degeneration. But some 'normal' pornography," Pope said while responding to a question on pornography, according to transcript of the session released by Vatican on Wednesday, October 26.
He said that porn not only affects one's mental health but also "weakens the soul-making room for the devil."
The 85-year-old encouraged Christians to delete all adult apps in a bid to avoid the temptations that come with them.
Pornography forbidden
Catholic priests and nuns are forbidden from watching pornography, with the Catechism defining sexual imagery as an 'offense against chastity' under article 2354.
A 2015 book developed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops called the deliberate production or use of pornography a "mortal sin".
This is not the first time the Jesuit pope is condemning pornography/.
In June this years, he described it "a permanent attack on the dignity of men and women." The pope went ahead to say that pornography should be declared a a "threat to public health."
