Why The Next Vice President Of Tanzania Is Likely To Be A Christian

President Samia Suluhu

All eyes will turn to the new President of Tanzania after the burial of the late president John Pombe Magufuli, as she will be tasked with nominating a candidate for the position of the vice president.

Tanzania is one of the country that has harmony in terms of leadership, and rarely has the leadership wrangles played out to the public.

It should also be noted, that this harmony has made it possible, for the island of Zanzibar and the main land, to share leadership in fashion that is admirable to the whole world.

Tanzania over the years had been having a culture of selecting a vice president from the Zanzibar island, if the president is from main land, something that has leaved on for a very long time.

Today presents a chance for the island to produce the president, who is expected to choose a vice president from the main land, to maintain the balance.

But that will not only be the challenge to the president, as she will be keen not to disrupt harmony by selecting a lady as her vice, and instead will have to select a man to be his vice.

The other challenge is the candidate for the position should be a Christian, as Muslims and Christians in Tanzania have over the years respected each other, and the president being from the Muslim religion, balance can only be attained by having a Christian as her vice.

The President will be having a hard time balancing the two, so as not to provoke either of them, and maintain the unity of the country.
