Why There Are Times When God Seems To Be Silent and Missing In Action All Together

There are times in our life's as believers, when uncertainty strikes and we feel like God has abandoned us. We pray and fast but God seems not to be working on our current problem that's affecting us badly.

A classical example, is when Fanuel Zedekiah a very well known Tanzanian gospel musician. He really blessed many christian with with his gospel songs. He just collapsed when performing in concert in Paris, France and went in a comma for many days. Many christians went for prayer and fasting for almost two weeks, pleading with God for his recovery, but unfortunately died. Therefore, why would God do that to us.

1. Test our hearts, if they are truly after Him

In the book of Job, the bible entirely describes what he went through. He lost everything, including children and his wealth. But because of his steadfastness and unwavered faith in God, He latter restored everything back to him.

In 2 Chronicles 32:31, the Bible records,

"But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart."

In some circumstances, as described in the above scripture, God leave us, to examine where our heart are.

2. Unfaithfulness to God

Isaiah 59:2

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

Jeremiah 5:25

Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.

Ezekiel 39:23

And the nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin, because they were unfaithful to me. So I hid my face from them and handed them over to their enemies, and they all fell by the sword.

3. Disobedience to God's commands

God as a father will always want us, as his children to obey his commandments and statutes. When we fail to obey his command, he always gives us freedom to do what we want. In Luke 15: 11-30, the parable describes how we always leave God's presence and become vulnerable to the enemies attack. Why ? Because we want freedom? But when tragedy befalls us, we start to cry and mourn that God has forsaken us.

Luke 15:13-14

“Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. [14] After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.

Deuteronomy 1:42,45

But the Lord said to me, “Tell them, 'Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.' ” [45] You came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you.

4. Hiding from God in our apostasy.

When man realized that he had sinned against the Lord, he couldn't gain enough courage to face God in his fallen state, but hid from God. Yet God was reaching out for them in their fallen state

Genesis 3:8

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
