Just in: Pope francis admitted to hospital.

The leader of the Roman Catholic church, Pope Francis was today admitted to hospital in Rome for a scheduled surgery to treat a colon problem.

On a brief announcement from Holy See's press office, the pope, now at 84 years was to go to Rome to undergo surgery on his large intestines.

The Vatican said the pope had been diagnosed with 'symptomatic diverticular Stenosis of the colon' a reference to a narrowing in the large intestine.

The news came just three hours after the pope had cheerfully greeted the public in St Peter's square and told them he will go to Hungary and Slovakia in September.

This is pope's first known hospital treatment since he was elected to the papacy in 2013.

A week earlier, Pope had requested for prayers from people as usual which is now being speculated that his illness was a reason for his request.

Most people love Pope Francis for his good heart and good acts to the poor. We wish him a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
