Why The Celebration Of Christmas Is Illegal And Banned In This East African Nation

Check Out Why the Celebration Of Christmas Is Illegal And Banned In This East African Nation

Every year in the Christian community, the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ is celebrated.

It is celebrated among many nations in the world to mark the beginning of a journey to salvation that was offered to God freely to every humankind.

It's a period where many express kindnesses to the less fortunate in society by sharing what they have.

In the world, East African countries are among the many nations that celebrate this day. However, the republic of Somalia is the nation in this region where Christmas is illegal and banned.

Christmas is not celebrated in Somalia for two reasons; all Somalis are Muslims and there is no Christian community here. The other reason is security.

Being the adoption of Sharia laws as part of their laws, a celebration of Christmas became illegal. Christmas was banned back in 2015 which marked 7 years after the country started using Sharia laws. To enforce this law, the government often reminds the citizens through a special announcement that it's illegal to celebrate Christmas.
