RIP: Kikuyu Elders and Church Leaders Collide at Burial of Couple Who Died in Ruaka
By Shantynews (self media writer) | 1 month ago
There was a collision between church leaders and Kikuyu elders at the burial of a man and his wife who died after a building in Ruaka collapsed on their home.
The argument started when Kikuyu elders of Kiama Kia ma led by Kung'u Muigai attempted to stop the burial arguing that they were not being recognized and given a chance to burry Njuthi in accordance with the traditions yet he was one of them. The church leaders on the other hand argued that they had been given a permit to preside over the burial.
At the end, each group held prayers at the grave site before the two were burried. The church began the prayers and after finishing, Kikuyu elders laid to rest the Njuthis after special traditional rituals and prayers.
Politicians who spoke at the burial pleaded with the Kiambu county government to ensure that all buildings are inspected to prevent more of such unfortunate deaths in the county.
Our sincere condolences to the couple's family. May God rest the two souls in eternal peace.
