A married woman who had informed her husband that she is going for a memorial service but visited her church priest has been found dead in the priest's bedroom.
Following the incident, the Church leadership has suspended Father Abel Mwelwa and demanded him to pay for the funeral costs of the woman.
“I hereby wish to inform you that I have with immediate effect suspended the Rev. Ringford Abel Mwelwa from the priesthood indefinitely. With this suspension, he ceases to be Parish Priest . Secondly, the priest also ceases to be the Judicial Vicar of the Archbishop of our area.” Part of the statement from the church leadership read.
According to a reliable source the priest infused a substance into the deceased body in an attempt to terminate her pregnancy which is unclear whether it is his or belongs to the woman's husband.
The lady's family has urged the police to move with speed and investigate what actually caused her death.
