Temptation is the act of encitiment to accept or gratify the desires of our bodies by desobeying God's word. It is a form of confusion and deception.
The source of temptation is Satan, (John 8:44).Satan has the ability to manipulate the truth to become lies and lies to become truth as he did to Eve, (Genesis 3:1).
Satan fights us to ensure that we die spiritually. He uses our flesh desires to catch us up and deceive us appropriately.
Therefore, as a Christian it is either you fight off the temptation or fall into his lies and deceptions.
There are 6 Stages of Temptations as shown below.
Satan shifts the direction of our minds, thoughts and reasoning to his side.
It is another form of deception. Our focus is distracted and shifted to wrong direction or wrong place where it does not align or please God's will.
2. Having an interest.
Our visions, mind and mental faculty starts to creat interest in something.
Our minds increases the attention to the object of manipulation, confusion and distraction and we lost our hunger to know more about something new.
3. Attempt, engagement or interaction.
Here a person tends to consider, evaluate, analyze and lastly begin to imagine on the new outcome.
We become locked in what we are trying to focus on at the time our interest and direction is controlled by our thoughts.
The physical body becomes the center of pleasure and it begins to force you to do it.
4. The conflict, the dispute or the the battle.
Here, the heart tries to take control over the flesh.
The battle blindfolds your spiritual awareness, at the end you fail to recognize that there is a spiritual struggle within your soul, heart and spirit.
Those who are not born again they end up obeying the desires of the flesh at the expense of the spirit, (1 Corinthians 10:33).
5. It is either Victory or fall into sin.
These are two paths one follows after passing through the battle stage.
It is either you defeat the desire of the flesh and reign as a Victor or fail into it and sin against God.
For those who are victims, (1 Peter 2:9, 1 Corinthians 15:57) and those who sins (John 3:19-20).
6. Results is Life or The Death.
Jesus said in (John 10:10)- The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
If you become victorious, you will be praising and glorifying God (Psalms 115:1,1 Corinthians 6:20).
You obey God if you win over the flesh (Proverbs 23:26,35)And those who fails are deemed to death(Romans 6:23).
In conclusion, temptations are part of our lives Today, but since Jesus was also tempted, He knows our weaknesses pray unto him and he will deliver you from the shadows of the valley of death.
Temptations are not condemnation but rather are here to strengthen our faith, endurance and perseverance unto the word of God. Don't lament whenever you fall into temptation, wake up repent and focus on the cross for forgiveness of our sins and final redemption.
Hope it is well and fine with you not to give up into temptation, for God does not want us to fall into tests of the devil, but instead he want us to be superior by having his armor to guard us against any kind of principalities of this world.
