Did Archbishop Muheria break the COVID-19 Rules During Ordination of Kitui Bishop?(PHOTOS)

Archbishop Anthony Muheria who is the interfaith council chairperson may have broken the Covid-19 guidelines he has stipulated for the country.

During the ordination ceremony of the new bishop of Kitui, the guidelines requiring that worship period take only 90 minutes was flouted as the service begun at 10 and ended at around 1.30pm.

The consecration of Rt. Rev. Joseph Maluki Mwongela as the new Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kitui also more than the required number of congregants as stipulated in the Covid-19 guidelines.

The ceremony was held at St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School Grounds.

The function was led by the apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Hurbetus Van Megen assisted by John Cardinal Njue and Archbishop Anthony Muheria of Nyeri Archdiocese.

Recently Archbishop Muheria lamented over flouting of COVID-19 guidelines at funerals saying only 10% are following the rules.

He further eiterated that only 100 people should attend a funeral or a ceremony and only 15 should be allowed around the graveside.

All the 25 parishes in the diocese sent their representatives to attend the function including Clergy, Religious, political leaders, government officials among other dignitaries.
