Labour day is an internationally set day to celebrate the work done by all workers worldwide. President Uhuru Kenyatta led this Year's labour day at State House in Nairobi. Several leaders celebrated this great day in various styles but Kisumu deputy governor mode of celebration was unique.
The deputy governor celebrated his labour day in the church. The deputy governor joined the faithfuls of Nyabondo parish in celebrating the feast of solemnity of St. Joseph the worker. This celebration is important in the calendar of Catholic Church and was initiated by Pope Pius.
The deputy governor Dr. Occieng Owili was accompanied by a number of MCAs from Kisumu county and several county government officials. The holy mass was presided over by Father John Atemi the parish priest and Dean of Nyabondo deanery.
The deputy governor also joined the faithfuls in contributing towards the completion of cabro works to beautify the iconic church that was started in 1935 by Father Leo Barteli. The deputy governor thanked the members of the church for their generosity and dedication in service.
