Cherargei Told Off Over His Remarks On Meeting Between Azimio Leaders And Catholic Bishops

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party co-principals, on Wednesday 29th Wednesday March 2023 met with Catholic Bishops regarding the current political situation in the country.

Shortly after the meeting, Raila revealed that they pledged to maintain their engagement with the KCCB and other faith communities as they work towards ensuring that Kenya is back on the right track.

The meeting has however been faulted by Nandi county senator Samson Cherargei. Taking to his official social media pages, the United Democratic Alliance Party laemaker argued that the clergy should not engage in political brokerage but should focus on issues related to religion.

"The clergy should stop political brokerage, they should restrict themselves to spiritual nourishment, gospel spread, baptism, LBTQ issues and moral policing." The Nandi county senator posted on his official social media pages.

"They should let politics be done by politicians. They shouldn't be agents of anarchists in the name Azimio-OKA." He added.

However, Kenyans were quick to tell off the Senator. Majority of those who commented wondered why he is angry with the meeting between the religious leaders and Azimio team yet the Kenya Kwanza team have always met them.

Below are some comments;

Charles Githinji: You have no moral integrity to discuss issues relating to Kenyans and their properties. It's a shame that a masquerader purporting to be a leader is only vomiting on our shoes.

Rishenga: What you mean is, clergy should not be seen anywhere near Azimio or conversing with them because all of them should be supportive of the current government.

Brian Kibet: I thought Ruto is their financial sponsor of building churches and giving pocket money to the clergy. Infact we are still waiting for miracle on our economy as they were paid in advance for prayers

Babu Moja: It's okay for Ruto to meet with the clergy but it's a crime when Raila meets them. Double standards.

AG Gatonye: Oh now that they are talking to Raila they doing political brokerage? Welcome to the world of clergy in Kenya.
