Standing on the promise of God, the Lord of the harvest

Brothers and sisters today we'll focus on Genesis 26:1- 3a;12

1There was another famine in the land besides the earlier one during the time of Abraham. Isaak went to Abimelech, King of the Phillistines, at Gerar. 2 The Lord had appeared to Isaak and had said" Do not go to Egypt; stay in this land, where I tell you to stay. 3 Live here and I will bless you . 12 Isaak sowed seed in that land , and that year he harvested a hundred times as much as he had sown, because the Lord blessed him.

In our text for today, we see that there was famine in Canan and Isaak just like his father Abraham had done ( Genesis 12:10) he too, wanted to go to Egypt thinking that if he does, God would bless him. But the Lord appeared to him and told him not go to Egypt but to remain in Canaan . He promised him that He will be with him and bless him there . ( 1-3)

In verse 12, we are told that Isaak sowed seed in that land where nobody was sowing due to famine and draught. I would want to imagine that most people must have seen him as wierd or even thought he was out of his mind as they watched him sow in the land that in the natural could not produce a harvest. In that circumstance, we understand that Isaak sowed and harvested a hundred times of the seeds he had planted. He sowed and got a bumper harvest in a land where noboby was sowing. How could this be?

1) Isaak trusted Gods promise to bless him regardless of the drought that was in the land.

2) He believed that what God had promised in his word He is able to perform it

Brethren, even though it seemed impossible, God did exactly what he had said and blessed Isaak greater than he had been blessed.

Let me ask you, What stands on your way to progress today? Does it seem impossible? Be encouraged. You have Gods promise that if you sow a seed you shall reap a harvest. Like a beloved child, rest in His love, pursue relationship, dream big dreams, and trust His promises for you. God is a good Father with good plans and purposes for you. His promises are forever true & Amen!

Proverbs 3:5-6

" Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him. And He shall direct your paths.".
