Bishop who hosted DP Ruto in Kenol died of Stress, Hypertension and pneumonia

African Independent Pentecostal Churches of Africa (AIPCA) Bishop, Rev. Stephen Nga’ng’a was buried on Friday, Kigumo constituency, Gacharage Village in Murang’a County.

Archbishop Julius Njoroge, Frederick Wang'ombe, and Samson Muthuri and area member of parliament Wangari Mwaniki among a dozen local representatives attended the burial.

On October 4, two pupil died and several were injured when chaos broke out in Kenol after youths clashed ahead of DP William Ruto’s visit.

In a phone interview with local publication, Archbishop Julius Njoroge said that, the postmortem revealed that bishop Stephen Nga’ng’a was fighting stress, hypertension, and pneumonia for a long.

He refuted claims circulating on social media that the bishop died of COVID-19.

“Bishop Stephen Nga’ng’a has been sick for a long but recent incident at Kenol worsen his situation,” he said.

He further said that DP Ruto’s team didn’t attend the burial.

The mass was conducted by archbishop Frederick Wang’ombe while Archbishop Julius Njoroge and Samson Muthuri assisted.

This was aimed to show church members that are now united and are working as a unit.

Archbishop Samson Muthuri also echoed Julius Njoroge sentiments that the Kenol incident was to blame for his death.

He said that the police officers threw a teargas canister to his foot and it exploded affecting his health.

“The police officers threw teargas canister at his feet and it exploded, having a record of battling hypertension and pneumonia, the smoke affected his health,” he said maintaining that he didn’t succumb to COVID-19.

He warned bloggers of tarnishing the church reputation maintaining that the church top leadership will streamline all the structures.
