India has revived Sufism. About to be extinct, the tradition was highly affected by the destruction of its literature by fire in many Khanqahs.
To bring it back to life the government organized a one-day conference on 'Philosophy of Sufism' at Budgam town in Kashmir.
Kashmir is the root of the Sufiyats and thus the best place to revive the ideology. Those who organized the event have been lauded highly. They say the idea is of love and mutual brotherhood.
Dr. Sajid Ahmad Wani was among the attendees who held high the conference. He as well praised the authors of Sufi books calling them glittering stars of knowledge.
Ajaz Ahmad a senior journalist has praised the Kashmiris for always setting a good example even in the worst of times and that explains why they believe in Sufism. He added that Sufism will ensure a peaceful and progressive society.
"The substance of Sufism is selfless experiencing and actualization of the truth. The practice of Sufism leads to the development of innate spiritual and intuitive abilities," Ajaz added.
