At the moment Catholic church is still mourning the death of Pope Benedict xvi who passed away on 31st December 2022. He was the former pope who retired in 2013 after serving the Catholic church since 2005. The current pope Francis of Assisi announced the illness of Pope Benedict xvi and later on Vatican local news channel announced about his death. Pope Benedict xvi died at his residence in Vatican after battling illness.
The death of the Pope attracted a lot of reactions as people joined the Catholics in mourning. At the moment he's yet to be buried as preparations are still in process.
Recent updates have revealed that the body of the pope is now open for viewing. Millions of Catholics have been spotted at St. Peter's Basilica for viewing. The body was laid at the monastery earlier today and will be there till 4th January 2023.


The deceased Pope's body was placed on the holy place inside the monastery where his hands were clasped on his belly while holding a rosary.
