Emotional scenes were witnessed today in Embu County as Catholic Bishop Paul Kariuki conducted a funeral mass for the 15 people who perished in a road accident at Thura Bridge two weeks ago as reported by Embu News Press.
“Embu Diocese catholic Bishop Paul Kariuki is currently conducting a funeral mass of the 15 people who died in a road accident at Thura drift Muminji ward Mbeere North,” the post read.
The burial comes just ten days after a bus by the name Waridi that plies Kirie-Siakago-Nairobi route was involved in a fatal accident in Muminji ward claiming many lives. Other people who sustained serious injuries are still recuperating in hospital.
Many have acknowledged that this is one of the mass funerals that has ever been conducted in the area for some time now. Facebook users penned the following messages as they passed condolences the mourners.
We urge our drivers to steer vehicles safely so that lives can be saved. May they rest in peace.
