Good Shepherd Parish in Mwingi is currently doing arrangements to hold a special mass for the departed victims of Enziu River tragedy on December 9, 2021. On Tuesday morning and evening, the church held another small mass where they lighted candles and prayed for their departed church members.[Photo Courtesy]
The church was not normal as usual. The members were all engulfed in a sombre mood but they tried to concentrate on their mission. They have lost a large number of their church members who were very good friends to them. The number of choir members has also reduced and those who had remained alive had to understand the situation.
Father Michael Ngunia based at Good Shepherd Parish says that they have to pray for the departed members and spread a message of comfort to those who have lost their loved ones. He admitted that the message about the deaths of their fellow members had changed their perception about life. They believe that the two songs that the choir members were rehearsing while at River Enziu bridge will not go in vain.
They believe that the songs were a preparation for their journey to eternal life. Different families have identified the bodies of their loved ones from the mortuary as they await the day of burial.
