This bright Sunday saw the deputy president William Ruto making his way to St Lorent Angaine, Buuri in Meru County. He was accompanied by outspoken area senator, Mithika Linturi. The objective of the church service to Ruto, was a thanksgiving to the AIPCA bishops who according to him have withstood test of time interms of matters of politics despite the current stern direction of politicians ways in churches.
He did not want to be lengthy in speeches and instead, chose brief summary and consequently threw light in what he stands for.
According to the second in command, 'bottom-up' approach is all about raising the lower level individuals into positions much desired. He has quoted a bible verse saying all that he is fighting and vouching for, has absolutely been captured by the mighty words of God, in his Holy Book.
In his words and according to 'Psalms 113:7-8', "Mungu humwita mtu mnyonge kutoka chini na huwaleta watu fukara na maskini katika meza moja na wafalme." Meaning that he will indeed fight to ensure all are able to 'put something at the table' just like 'the haves'.
On the other hand, he has respected Bishops stand in regards to the position of political class in churches, however, he has positively highlighted that it would be nice or better still, prudent, not to chase away those politicians from churches, who have seen the light as a result of his continued influence and presence in the holy places of worship.
Pleading with church authority, he has humbly asked to allow them to be saved citing that it would be better to move as one and to march to God when united.
As we can see, normal Sundays are no longer with us, nowadays leaders throng to worship with us knowing that they are too Christians. In their pursuit in places of worship, it is clear that vote hunting is their greatest push and rationale behind their cravity for these places. As good christians allow everyone to worship and pray, however, condemn misdemeanor-kind of behaviour among them.
