Interesting unknown scientific facts associated with fasting during Ramadhan.

Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. The beginning of Ramadhan is determined by sighting of the new moon after which it is followed by fasting. Fasting is considered to be one of the pillar of Islam. Adult muslim are obliged to fast from dusk till dawn unless when ill, travelling,pregnant,diabetic or breastfeeding. A large number of studies conducted by researchers talk about scientific benefits of fasting.


Some of the benefits include:

1.Removal of worn out cell parts and tissue mass .Fasting gives opportunity to the body to focus more on autophagy. This is when the body can break down worn out tissue and utilize it for energy production.

2.Fasting also multiplies normal flora present inside the body. The increased number of normal flora can have good effect in general health of the body.

3.Fasting do initiate the process of removal of waste substances from the body(detoxification).Research has proven that long period of fasting enables the body focus more on the detoxification process.


In addition to the above mentioned scientific importance associated with fasting during Ramadhan, it should be done with utmost zeal and dedication to the Almighty. Care should be taken when breaking the fast to involve light but nutritious meal.
