Do Not Worry And Here's Why

God Really Doesn't Want You to Worry

First things first. God doesn't want us to worry and He tells us that. And yet, most of us will spend a large part of our lives worrying - many times about things that haven't even happened.

Moms will worry about their teenager getting into a car accident and their child isn't even driving yet. A college graduate will worry about not finding his/her dream job and the first application hasn't been completed yet. A husband may worry that one day he won't be able to provide for his family when at that moment, he is providing all of his family's needs.

Humans naturally worry and we have to fight that tendency by understanding that God does not want us to worry about anything. Instead, we are to trust Him for everything.

Seek Ye First My Kingdom

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”— Matthew 6:33

There is something so tranquil about vacationing by cruising. Sitting on your private balcony, or maybe on the top deck, while sailing along the Caribbean Sea, looking up at the sky and out at the water that seems to never end has become a very spiritual experience for me.

On a recent cruise, and feeling overwhelmed by all of the things taking place in my life, I remember talking to God and Matthew 6:25 - 34 dropped into my spirit.

Do Not Worry

25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?— Matthew 6:25-27

Do Not Worry

One thing that's special about these scriptures is the words are spoken to us by Jesus. So, let’s read it again, but this time, substitute “Jesus” for “I” and substitute “me/my/I” for “you”. Make it personal because it is personal. He’s talking to you and me!

25 - Therefore Jesus tells me, do not worry about my life, what I will eat or drink; or about my body, what I will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

26 - Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet my heavenly Father feeds them. Am I not much more valuable than they?

27 - Can I by worrying add a single hour to my life?

28 - And why do I worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

29 - Yet Jesus tells me that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

30 - If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe me—me of little faith?

31 - So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall I eat?’ or ‘What shall I drink?’ or ‘What shall I wear?’

32 - For the pagans run after all these things, and my heavenly Father knows that I need them.

33 - But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to me as well.

34 - Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

What's The Key to Not Worrying?

The key to living a worry-free life is making sure that we're seeking after God. His kingdom. His love. His way. His righteousness.

We need to allow God to place His desires in our hearts. Pursuing those things that are above us. Heaven. When we do this, then the things that have us stressed out will take care of themselves. He promises us that those things that we desire will be given to us. We just have to learn to rest in that promise.

God bless you as you keep on trusting in him, don't worry because he has a reason for you.Amen!
