How Pontius Pilate Died After Sanctioning The Death Of Jesus

It's always interesting to know how a man who presided over the death of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who many Christians adore as the son of the living God.

The Judean governor Pontius Pilate in the 1st century had powers to set Jesus free but according to scriptures, he succumbed to pressure from the Sanhedrin, a synagogue council whose leadership felt threatened by the increased popularity of Jesus.

According to Mathew 27:24, Pilate refused involvement in the death of Jesus by washing his hands."So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves." (ESV

Afterwards, the angry Jews descended on Jesus saying let his blood be upon our heads and killed Jesus by crucifying him on a cross. The gorvenor then ordered the words INRI Be written on the cross meaning the names of Jesus the king of the Jews. This was meant to mock him for the lofty claim.

But how did Pilate die? Opinion is divided with some traditions opining that he was ordered to die by execution or by Suicide by Roman empiror Caligula. Other accounts say pilate committed suicide while in exile and his body was thrown into a river.

According to biography.com, the evidence of the existence of pilate who was governor of Judea representing Roman empire, was discovered in 1961 when an Italian archeologist Dr Antonio Frova uncovered a piece of limestone inscribed with pontius pilate's name in Latin linking his name to empiror Tiberius's reign.

Jesus that they killed resurrected and lives forevermore. Believe in him today and you will have eternal live. Say Lord Jesus, forgive my sins and write my name in the book of life amen. Shalom.
