The national assembly speaker Justin Moturi has today undergone a very crucial ritual in his life as a leader. In a high profile ritual conducted by the Murang'a Council Of Elders, Moturi was taken through a ritual that was said to be in preparation for Saturday's big event.
According to Samuel, who is the secretary of the Council Of Elders, Moturi will be installed as the spokesman of the Mount Kenya region on the 22nd of this month. He father elaborated that this is the continuation of the event that took place in Embu some months ago. In the event, Speaker Moturi was installed as the Mount Kenya region's spokesman by the Embu Council Of Elders.
The Saturday's event is said to be going to be bigger than the Embu event since it will fetch elders from across the mountain region. According to Samuel, the secretary of the council, these activities are with the blessings of the President, who is the captain. President Uhuru is assisted by regional captains.
Due to the fact that President Uhuru will be leaving power in the coming year, Mount Kenya region will have no one representing them at the national table. There has thus been various people who have expressed interest in replacing him as the region's Kingpin. Apart from Moturi, there is former Agriculture CS Kiunjuri, former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth, Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru among many others.
Considering that the Embu event was followed with much denials from various quarters of the mountain means some were dissatisfied by the act. The president is yet to come out in support of the process. If Moturi is confirmed as the spokesman, definitely he will be the presidential candidate. The question of who he will team up with still lingers unanswered.
