Christ the redeemer monument is a symbol of Brazilian Christianity.It is found in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil .It stands on top of Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca forest National park .This monument faces the East and overlooks the Brazilian capital .It was constructed to mark independence and the end of 100 years of Portuguese rule .It also depicted the Christianity dominance in this country.
Its closeness to Lodwar airstrip makes it a no miss place for both domestic and foreign tourist visiting the county .It has made Turkana county a tourist destination thereby changing its status in terms of how people used to visualise it as a county with diverse challenges.
The Catholic church saw it appropriate to construct this monument in order to counter the increasing spread of other religions in the county.Turkana county is vulnerable to religious influence due to its proximity to South Sudan .
