4 Signs God is still protecting you

We all have storms in our lives, moments when we feel like the rain will never stop and we’re tired of being cold and wet. These moments are uncomfortable, it may be a financial crisis, a broken relationship or maybe even a death in the family and you feel like you’re about to fall apart.

Hebrews 13:6 says for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee This is God’s ultimate promise of protection. He has never left you before and He isn’t going to leave you now. Imagine, the Creator of the entire universe promises to look out for you. However, you might be questioning if God is really protecting me why did x, y or z happen? What we must understand is that we still exist in a world of sin and God may allow certain things to happen in our lives to grow our character or even to help deepen our dependence on Him.

There are countless examples in the Bible where people were tempted to believe that God had forsaken them such as Job, Joseph and even Paul but when we consider the entire story we learn that God had a much bigger plan in motion and that one storm in their lives helped to move them closer to God. Jeremiah 29:11 .For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Here are 4 signs God is still protecting you even in the midst of your trials:

1. You’re still alive. It’s become a cliche to testify about having life, health and strength but the mere fact that you’re on your phone/computer reading this article right now is a testimony to God’s protection in your life. How many times were you almost in an accident or in a situation where you couldn’t seriously injure yourself but by some miracle you made it out unscathed? This is not a coincidence, this is God’s hand literally moving you away from dangerous situations. God has been continuously protecting you from see and unseen dangers your entire life and He isn’t going to stop now.

2. Not seen the righteous forsaken. I’m going to get a little real with you here, there have been times in my life when I had little to no money. There were times when I looked in my cupboard and just saw one can of baked beans, however, I’ve noticed a pattern in my life whenever I’m at my lowest point financially something happens that I am able to get the money I need to survive. I’m sure you’ve experienced similar situations. God wants us to depend on Him for all our needs, His promise in return is that we will always be taken care of. If you will take some time to reflect you will notice the many ways God has been taking care of you all along.

Psalms 37:25. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

 3. He has removed certain people from your life. God isn’t only protecting you from danger or your financial troubles, He is also protecting you from yourself and from mental/emotional hurt. Sometimes God has to remove people from your life in order to protect you sometimes physically in the cases of abuse or domestic violence and other times from emotional trauma. We may question God’s reasoning or we may even be reluctant to let that person go but God knows how much pain and suffering will happen if that person remains in your life. So instead of holding on, maybe it’s time to let that person go.

Psalms 5:12. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

4. Near-death experiences. Let’s agree that life happens, you get sick, you have many bills to pay, people die and there’s always some hardship that you’re dealing with. There is a tendency to become so caught up with life that you forget that God was the one who woke you up in the first place. Then something happens that shakes you up, you have a near-death experience or a situation that could’ve almost broken you. For the first time in a long time, you are jolted out of the routine and you’ve come to the realization that something has been missing from your life. These near-death.experiences are an opportunity for you to turn your life around. These kinds of situations happen for us to take stock of our lives and to realize that we need a survivor, that we need God’s strength to help us. As wild as it may seem, this is also God protecting you, He is protecting you from yourself and He is trying to wake you up.
