(Photos) Bashar al-Assad's Wife Asma Assad Visits Christian Nuns Based In Syria

Christians in Syria make up about 10-12% of the population. The country's largest Christian denomination is the Eastern Orthodox Church of Antioch (known as the Greek Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East), closely followed by the Melkite Catholic Church, one of the Eastern Catholic Churches, which has a common root with the Eastern Orthodox Church of Antioch, and then by Oriental Ortho churches like Syriac Orthodox Church and Armenian Orthodox Church.

Today Asma Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, visited Christian nuns somewhere in the country. This is according to a social media statement by Tiger Forces that read, "The first lady of Syria salutes Christian nuns. I wonder if you will see this in any of the Gulf countries?"

The social media post was then followed by a photo that showed Asma Assad who was wearing a dark pink pullneck dress holding hands with one of the nuns. The nuns were wearing dark grey habits and veils.
