In a report via the standard, Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been tasked by Ruto to form a caucus of leaders from Western region, so that they can present their views on how they will be accommodated in Ruto's government.
These details emerge just a day after Ruto held a similar caucus with Mps drawn from the larger Mt Kenya region. Oparanya will work closely with Ruto's other Pointmen in Western Bonny Khalwale and Mp Benjamin Washiali to make the caucus a success.
Oparanya met Ruto weeks ago in Maasai Mara, where the two reportedly talked about 2022 politics. However, upon pressure from ODM supporters to explain the basis of the meeting, Oparanya claimed it was not prearranged, saying it was a "coincidental" meeting.
If the latest reports are anything to go by, then governor Oparanya could be on his way out of ODM.
