DP Ruto Given Tough Rules Ahead Of His Nyanza Tour

Deputy President William Ruto will takes his bottom-up campaign to Migori County today (Saturday) in an effort to woo directly the Luo community into backing his presidential bid.

According to the Star, Deputy president William Ruto is silently rolling out an elaborate campaign targeting ODM leader Raila Odinga political strongholds ahead of the 2022 presidential election.

According to the publication, Ruto is expected to launch a charm offensive on Raila's Nyanza backyard with a major rally to be held in Awendo town, Migori country.

Later On, DP Ruto will lead a fundraiser at Awendo Central SDA Church.

“We will have a funds drive at the church. The church had requested for this in the past and due to tight schedule and Covid-19 restrictions, we have been postponing it until Saturday,” Kuria West MP Mathias Robi told the Star.

However, details have emerged on the tough rules the second in command should adhere to, while in the region.

According to ODM MP Walter Owino who spoke to the Star said that they will not grace Ruto's function in the region but urged for calm during DP's visit.

The law maker cautioned Ruto to desist from insulting local leaders and issuing inflammatory statements targeting Raila Odinga and the ODM party.

In addition, Migori Senator Ochillo Ayako said that despite the DP has freedom to pray in any church in Kenya, his Migiri visit is politically null and void.
