I am Not Ready To Spend My Money To Try And Sell Raila, Or Tell People To Hate Ruto; Nyakera Claims

A big blow to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga as former Permanent Secretary declares that he won’t support his presidential bid.

Speaking during an interview with Kameme TV, former Transport PS Irungi Nyakera, who is eyeing for the Murang’a gubernatorial seat said he he has interacted with voters at the ground level and came up with a conclusion that they will support Deputy President William Ruto in the upcoming 2022 general election.

He went ahead and said that he has been a close ally to President Uhuru Kenyatta but he was not ready to use his personal resources and try to popularise ODM leader in the Mount Kenya region.

ODM leader has visited central region many times but according to the PS he is hard to sell.

“I am not ready to spend my money to try and sell Raila, or to tell people to hate Ruto. It seems the ground has already made a choice for the presidency. The other day I was interacting with a group of women from mashinani and they told me that there is no question about the presidency and that they have settled on Ruto,” alluded Nyakera.

“I tried to convince them otherwise but they told me that they will vote for a thief. I can’t therefore popularize someone who is unwanted by the people. I will use a lot of money and at the end I will not be elected for the governor seat.

I better go with what the people want for now so that I can implement my vision when I become the governor. Otherwise, all these promises I’m making will just be stories if I won’t be elected.

The other option is I vie on an independent ticket where people will not associate me with any presidential candidate,” added the former PS.
