Purity Ngiricii has surpassed Anne Waiguru in the Kirinyaga Gubernatorial race following Martha Karua's departure from national politics. She appears to have inherited a sizable portion of the Azimio DP Nominee votes. The race has come down to two strong women.

The incumbent has support from the UDA wave in Mount Kenya, but the election of Martha Karua to the top seat appears to be shifting the political realities. Waiguru recently came out to criticize the stage about the purported arrest of her Allies.
As the August election campaign begins, it is expected that the two main candidates would use massive apparatus to win. Ngiricii is running for the Independent Ticket.
According to Mizani, Edwin Sifuna and Women Rep Esther Passaris have built a large gap over their adversaries in the capital city. Passaris was chosen by 67 percent of voters, while ODM SG was chosen by 62 percent. Sakaja leads the Gubernatorial race with 48 percent, while Polycarp Igathe comes in second with 43 percent.
