Raila Makes a Daredevil Move, Here's What he Did in Eldoret That Not Many People Can Dare

ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday showed his daredevil side when he made his usual controversial remarks in the home ground of the enemy.

Raila toured Deputy President William Ruto's Uasin Gishu backyard and held a massive rally in Eldoret to drum up support for his 'Azimio La Umoja' roadmap.

But the interesting thing is that even there, aware that he was in the enemy's territory, the former Prime Minister bashed his absent host, not bothered by the consequences that could follow such.

Raila again accused Ruto of massive involvement in corruption, obviously aware that such could have resulted in heckling or even being chased away.

“He (Ruto) goes around the country dishing out school buses and money to youth and women groups and churches. He donates expensive cars to bishops,” he said, as is quoted by The Standard.

He accused Ruto of encouraging laziness in the country by glorifying issuance of handouts rather than encouraging hard work, through his unending involvement in fundraisers.

Raila stated that he knows how much Ruto earns in a month, which is around Sh3 million, wondering where he gets the remaining Sh97 million as he gives Sh100 million in harambees every month.

He was hosted by Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos, who claimed that very many leaders from the Rift Valley region are with him but couldn't come out to join him out of fear of intimidation.

“I spoke to all leaders from the region and they welcomed you. Let us forgive those who did not show up to welcome Raila in Eldoret. Let us also understand them because they lack the courage to declare their political stand,” he said.

Tolgos is the man tasked with the job of handing Raila the Kalenjin vote, with his other point men in the larger Rift Valley including Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui and Kajiado governor Joseph Ole Lenku.
