Lusaka will carry the day, voter tells governor Wangamati

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati took to his social media pages to apologise to residents.

“Bungoma people, I hear you! I don’t take your loud call for Wangamati Tano Tena for granted. My second term will be another 5 years of transformation. It will be continuation of the good work we have been doing for the past five years,” he said.

“I call on each of you not to gamble with the future of Bungoma. This is our home and we deserve the best. Kama kuna mahali nilikosea (If I wronged you in any way) I ask for forgiveness. I am human just like you," he added.

A section of those who reacted to the post thanked him for making Bungoma a better place, since he was elected in 2017.

However, another one who claimed to be his adent supporter told him point blank that he was not going to be re-elected.

“I am your supporter but it is very unfortunate that you’re losing it sir, Lusaka will carry the day very early. That is my honest observation,” said Feddy Khisa.

“God is ahead. Don’t give up,” responded the governor.

Wangamati was elected the second Bungoma County governor in 2017 after beating Ken Lusaka, now Senate Speaker.

Speaker Lusaka is back with intentions of reclaiming the governor’s seat on Ford Kenya ticket, while Wangamati is running on the DAP Kenya ticket.

The third horse in the race is businessman Zachariah Barasa, vying on the UDP ticket. Opinion poll results show that Lusaka is ahead of the two.
