The upcoming general elections seem to be a two-horse race between the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party Raila Odinga and leader of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance William Ruto. The two are relying on information technology (IT) specialists to protect their votes in the coming polls.
Former Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Mr. Davis Chirchir is in charge of the IT professionals in Deputy President William Ruto's team. Chirchir also held the position of director of information technology in the previous electoral commission.
After being fired by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2015 on the allegations of corruption, Mr. Davis Chirchir left the Energy and Petroleum ministry. He was charged with obtaining millions of shillings from British companies in exchange of printing state contracts with ballot papers.

Davis was appointed by the Jubilee party to serve as the president's top agent in 2017. The Orange Democratic Movement party chief, Raila Odinga who was the then NASA leader charged Chirchir with breaching into the IEBC servers and manipulating the transmission of data after polls were closed.

Deputy President William Ruto is relying on Chirchir, who serves as both his Personal Assistant (PA) and secretary, to preserve and oversee his votes as the IEBC transmits everything digitally.
Do you think Davis will manage to safeguard DP Ruto's votes as alleged? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
