Citizen Television anchor, Trevor Ombija could be facing a lawsuit by former Azimio Chief Agent, Saitaboa Ole Kanchori following his remarks on the Azimio lawyer during an exclusive interview with Azimio Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga.
Kanchori has today stated through his official tweeter account that he intends to sue the renowned Royal Media television anchor if he does not apologize for his falls allegation against Kanchori.
NOTICE OF INTENT TO SUE
My Xmas Holiday has been rudely interrupted by false & malicious claims by @TrevorOmbija on @citizentvkenya that I said that @RailaOdinga campaigns "were disorganized & that agents were not paid".Unless I receive a proportionate apology in 7 DAYS am suing"
In the tweet, he also shared a clip of Trevor quoting his statements that "the Azimio campaign center did not work, agents were not paid and the campaign was disorganized". Raila was quick to dismiss all the claims and defended his campaign team wholeheartedly.
Kanchori had earlier spoken to NTV news on a documentary dubbed, #WhyRailaLost, where he expresses his views on why the Azimio coalition failed in the August polls. In the interview, Kanchori said that three people in Azimi's campaign team cost Raila the presidency. The three were Suna East Member of Parliament, June Mohammed, Azimio Campaign Secretary Prof. Makau Mutua, and former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Muchere. The embattled member of the Azimio Coalition has had constant attacks from politicians citing his poor performance at the National Tallying Center in Boman after the election, which led to a fallout between the Azimio team and the then IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati.
If Saitaboa pursues the case, Trevor Ombija could be facing defamation charges from the lawyer. Trevor Obija and The Royal Media Services are yet to comment on the matter that has not left Kenyans on tweeter talk with people who have different opinions on which of the two is right.
