Ruto is on a two-day visit to the Nyanza Region, a region known as the political base for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Taking to his Twitter account, Nyong'o said, "Karibu Kisumu Rais William Ruto na wageni wako," to mean, "Welcome to Kisumu President William Ruto and your team."

This is the first time the president is visiting the Lake-side county weeks before and since the August 9th polls.

Speaking in Homa Bay county earlier, Ruto who was hosted by Governor Gladys Wanga and the Senator Moses Kajwang among other leaders allied to the Azimio camp said that he is out to work with elected leaders across the political divide irrespective of whether their regions supported his bid or not.

Wanga and Kajwang affirmed that they will work closely with the national government for the sake of development in their county.

The duo however said that the county is solidly under the Azimio camp.

Ruto's visit to the Nyanza Region comes few days after the Former Prime Minister urged the governors elected under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Azimio umbrella at large to work with the government of the day.

After the Homa Bay and the Kisumu tours, Ruto will also visit Siaya County, where Governor James Orengo affirmed that he is ready to receive the president.
