With less than 10 months to Kenya's general elections, top politicians in the country are in their last-minute rush assembling their troops ready for the big test come 2022. Raila Odinga is believed he might be trying his fifth presidential bid while Deputy President William Ruto will be vying for Presidency for the first time.
One week ago, an online opinion poll conducted by Kenyans Alert News Tv suggested that majority of Kenyans at 64% had confidence that William Ruto would succeed President Uhuru if elections were to be held at that time.
Today another online opinion poll conducted by Hon Adan Omar has suggested that if Presidential elections were to be held today, Deputy President William Ruto will emerge winner. If Adan's poll is compared with the above poll by Kenya News Alert Tv, Dp Ruto popularity has gone up by 1% while that of Raila Odinga has dropped by 2%.
From a sample size of 8,880 respondents, 65% will vote for William Ruto as their next President come 2022 while ODM boss Raila Odinga managed 26%.Musalia Mudavadi political popularity has gone up by 2% if compared to an earlier poll by Kenya News Alert Tv while that of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dropped from 4% to 2%.
From the above online opinion poll, this is how netizens reacted;
Kipchoge Kosgey: whatever wherever, its William Ruto. Sorry but numbers don't lie
Joe: Ruto is where Rao was few years back. Very very popular. You're trying and this means after 10-15 years he may clinch the seat.
Come next year, it simply means the presidential race will be a two-horse race between William Ruto and Raila Odinga. Despite Deputy President leading all along, today's poll simply means Raila needs to come up with another strategy to tame Ruto's growing influence before 2022 general elections.
