Barely two days after DP Ruto visited Kajiado county, over 50 UDA members defected to Raila Odinga's ODM party, prompting celebrations in the camp. This is a significant development as the general elections approach. The defectors were greeted by ODM leader Raila Odinga and his confidant, Junet Mohamed, today at Chungwa House, where they were holding a meeting to accept Ruto's defectors.
Raila claimed upon receiving the defectors that he was persuaded to run for president by Kenyans in order to liberate the country from the bonds of enormous injustice imposed by successive presidents.
Raila also reminded Kenyans that he will declare the long-awaited presidential position on Friday, which will be supported by strategized campaigns aimed at securing the votes necessary to win the upcoming general elections.
Kajiado county deputies have praised Raila as a true leader willing to serve in reclaiming Kenya.Additionally, they accused Ruto of being tribal and having unclear agendas despite serving in government for nine years without completing a single substantial project and instead relying on Uhuru's big four agendas to garner support.
