Former Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko, took to Facebook to wish President William Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto, a happy 30th birthday. However, his message took a politically charged turn as he reignited his feud with former Interior CS Fred Matiangi and former PS Karanja Kibicho.
In the post, Sonko wrote, "Happy birthday Shirleen Ruto. May your birthday be bright as your smile. I’m happy for you and your entire family especially your Dad H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya who did wonders by chasing away akina Matiangi, Kibiso na mandainasis."
About three months before his impeachment from office as the Nairobi governor, Sonko expressed his disappointment in the Interior CS Fred Matiangi and PS Karanja Kibicho’s unprofessional conduct. “Uhuru is a very hardworking man, the problem is the system and the deep state, Matiangi and Kibicho are misusing the state machinery,” said Sonko in an interview with Citizen TV.
It seems that Sonko's message on Charlene Ruto's birthday was a way to further express his frustration with Matiangi and Kibicho's actions. It remains to be seen how the two will respond to Sonko's statement and if this feud will continue to escalate.
