The United Democratic Alliance, popularly known as UDA, has launched the registration of new members in Baringo Central sub-county. This follows after the party declared that they want to solidify its support base across the country ahead of the high stake 2022 polls. The party targets to register over 20,000 members within a span of one week. The Baringo sub-county chairperson Jeremiah Chesirwo urged everyone to register with the party as UDA is the new face of Kenya.
The Deputy President William Ruto-linked party UDA was registered in early 2021. Johnson Muthama, the UDA party chairman, said that the party is a chosen bus to help drive the DP William Ruto to win the top seat in 2022. However, during that time Ruto had not yet come out personally to identify himself with the party. Those associated with the unveiling of the party include leaders like Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, MP Kimani Ichung'wah and others who refer to themselves by the Hustler Nation slogan along with the Wheelbarrow Movement that Ruto is popularizing across the country.
In late March this year, following rumors that powerful individuals want to kick him out from the Jubilee Party, DP Ruto noted that if he continues to be pushed he will definitely leave Jubilee and use UDA as his vehicle in 2022. Ruto also noted that once it becomes official that he will be leading the UDA party, the team will be a force to reckon with.
