Governor Anne Waiguru hosts Mt. Kenya parties leaders in a bid to unite the vote-rich region

Mount Kenya region has been united for a long time. The region has voted as a block for a long time. The region is currently divided into two political factions. One faction is allied to president Uhuru Kenyatta and the other to deputy president William Ruto.

Various leaders allied to president Uhuru Kenyatta have been trying to unite the region ahead of 2022 polls. The leaders are led by the region's governors, elected lawmakers and former leaders. The leaders have met severally for consultation on the region's unity.

Today Kirinyanga governor Anne Waiguru hosted political party leaders from Mount Kenya region in a bid to unite the vote-rich region. The leaders held consultative discussion on socio-economic and political issues affecting Mount Kenya region.

The governor urged the leaders to embrace unity in the region ahead of 2022 polls. She further said that they will target other groups in a move to unite the region. She said that they will meet religious leaders, youths and professionals from the region in their bid to unite the region. Leaders present included Laikipia governor Nderitu Muriithi and Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni.
