Robert Alai has exposed Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa for allegedly painting a government vehicle with UDA colours for campaign purposes. The vehicle had been bought using NGCDF funds by Kimilili Constituency CDF board. The pickup is seen branded with UDA colours together with portraits of Barasa and DP William Ruto.
The vehicle has since been impounded by government agencies. Alai has said it was a joint operation involving The Government Check Unit officers from Nairobi and Serious Crimes Personel drawn from DCI offices in Bungoma and Nairobi.
After impounding the vehicle, it was momentarily taken to Kimilili police station. Later it was taken to Bungoma where DCI officers took it to Nairobi. Alai now says Barasa is on hideout and DCI officers are hot on his trail. Once arrested he will be charged with forgery, theft of government vehicle among other charges. DCI started the operation after a tip off from a member of the public.
