Uganda 2021 Elections: Uganda Orders All Social Media Platforms To Be Closed

Uganda has ordered all social media platforms providers as well as to be closed as from Tuesday 12 January to unknown date that is according to the letter from the controller of communication in that country that was quoted by the Reuters News Report. 

The users were complaining earlier that they were not able to access Facebook and What's app among some of the most used social media platforms during such a period campaign and presidential election in this East African country. 

"Communications commission of Uganda orders that all social media platforms to be stopped as of Tuesday 12 January 2021 until a later date," the letter from the director of the Communication commission addressed to the social media providers. 

The commission spokesperson Ibrahim Bbossa and the government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo did not receive calls when they were being called to respond on the claims. An officer from the ministry of information Judith Nabakooba said that she could not say anything at the moment regarding that information.
