Deputy President William Ruto is set to visit the United Kingdom and the United States for 12 days starting on Sunday. This was made possible after the Foreign Affairs Ministry with High Commission from the two countries allowed him to have the political tour.
Sources privy to DP Ruto has confirmed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate will have a high-level meeting with government officials, elected leaders, global policy think tank and Kenyans in the diaspora.

In 2019, his visit to US and Canada was cancelled at the last minute. Then, Ruto's director of communication David Mugonyi said the trip was cancelled because of tight scheduling challenges as Ruto's tours were coinciding with those of President Uhuru.
His visit comes at a time when President Uhuru Kenyatta officially endorsed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga to be the country's fifth president. At the meeting, the Head of State also castigated his Deputy over church donations among other things.
