Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua has severally assured Deputy President William Ruto that the residents in his constituency are supporting his presidential bid, and have subscribed to his economic model of reviving the economy.
A section of youths from the constituency on Friday made a U-turn and declared their support to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, adding that they will voluntarily carry out the mass registration across the constituency and across the Nyeri county.
Some of those who spoke to the media stated that their new stand comes days after the Mount Kenya Foundation group embraced Raila during a luncheon that took pace at the Safari Park, arguing that they feel he is the right person to safeguard their interests.
"We do not need more propaganda, Raila has been categorical that his relationship with Mt Kenya runs way back, and he has promised that once he wins we will not be left behind. He is a man who keeps his words," said one of the youths.
They added that Raila has in the past supported the Kikuyu community, and it was time to lent him a hand quoting the 'Kibaki Tosha Declaration' and the 2018 handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
