For one to be a president in Kenya, you need a strong political coalition and people with resources, political influence and who are brave.
Deputy president William Ruto is among the front- runners to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022. For him to succeed in creating a powerful hustler movement that he preaches to the people, the DP will not only need people from the central region, but also powerful and influential men who will bring the entire country together.
Below are three big fishes that the DP needs for him to be in Statehouse after the 2022 general elections.
1. Dr. Fred Matiang'i
Since his appointment as cabinet secretary in 2013, Matiang'i has earned a good reputation among Kenyans because of his accomplishments in the ministries he has been put in charge of. Beginning with the Ministry of Education, Matiangi did what no one had ever done before. Matiangi in 2016 cubbed national exams cheating which had become a menace in the country.
He became President Uhuru Kenyatta' s favorite and has never let him down. He has been entrusted with key ministries and is currently the cabinet secretary for the Interior.
2. Kalonzo Musyoka
Kalonzo Musyoka is a well- known politician in Kenya' s East region. He has held a number of high- ranking government posts. From 2008 to 2013, Kalonzo served as a vice president. If William Ruto can convince him to join his camp, he will have a strong chance of winning a large number of votes in East Kenya. Makueni County has 421, 180 registered voters, Machakos County has 627, 168 voters, and Kitui County has 477, 655 voters.
3. Raila Odinga
The former prime minister is among the most prominent politicians in Kenya and in Africa at large. If Raila Odinga supports the DP on his presidential ambitions in 2022 Ruto will win the elections in a landslide. Back in 2002 Raila supported Mwai Kibaki and Kibaki won the elections in a landslide.
