Governors Ongwae and Anyang Nyongo are currently leading hundreds of ODM delegates from Kisumu in a meeting ahead of Raila Odinga's arrival. According to Kondele County Assembly representative Joachim Oketch Swagga who also is Raila's ardent supporter from Kisumu, the meeting is aimed at popularising Raila's presidential bid to the lakeside city of Kisumu.

The governors and leaders present openly claiming that ODM will carry the day in Kisumu, with a clarion call to the locals to turn up in large numbers and register as voters ahead of the 2022 polls which are expected to be one of the most competitive elections in recent history.
The aspirants and delegation also affirm their support for the handshake which they say will not only boost Raila's bid but also propel him to the top of the presidential race. Raila is also expected to join the team soon to assure them of free and fair elections.
