Kirinyanga governor Anne Waiguru is one of the first women governors in Kenya. The female governor was elected alongside Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu as the first governors in Kenya. Governor Anne Waiguru has advocated for women leadership in Kenya since her election.
The vocal governor will be facing stiff competition from influential leaders in the county who are keen on replacing her. Some of the aspirants includes Interior principal secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho and Kirinyanga women representative Hon. Ngirici.
The governor hosted youth delegation for a consultative discussion ahead of 2022 polls. The leaders discussed of various issues affecting the county. The meeting is meant to consolidate the governor's ground support in the county.
The governor said that they held a heated debate and serious talks on various issues. She thanked the youth leaders for their brilliance, witt, straight talk on matters of leadership, politics and economy. She said that it was refreshing to meet them and engage with them on various issues.
