Prime cabinet secretary Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi who is the third senior most government official in the executive reportedly told deputy president Rigathi Gachagua that he is not the president of the republic of Kenya.
According to an article on The Standard, the prime cabinet secretary is said to have waited until government officials congregated at the Humfrey Kariuki owned Mt Kenya Safari club hotel before he spoke up his mind.
He is said to have reminded Gachagua that the only president of Kenya is Dr William Ruto, seemingly dismantling Gachagua whom they were alleged to have a strained relationship.

Shortly after the said retreat, president William Ruto reorganized his administration via executive order number 1 of 2023 that gave significant authority to the office of the prime cabinet secretary. Mudavadi was however quick to point out during a recent joint media interview that he is only assisting the president and deputy president deliver on their mandate.
